Thomas Barnes Primary School is a co-educational day school administered by the Staffordshire County Council Education Committee. We endeavour to foster a ‘yearning for learning’ to enable the children to grow and prepare them for their life ahead.

The school is set in the beautiful village of Hopwas and is nestled between the Coventry Canal, Hopwas Woods and the picturesque banks of the River Tame. It caters for pupils between the ages of 4 and 11 years of age from Hopwas and the surrounding villages.

The original school dates back to the 1700s when a local boy, Thomas Barnes, who was an orphan was found in a barn - hence the name. He was raised and educated by the families in the village and then eventually moved to London and became successful.
He later returned and established the school in gratitude for the help of the village.

School Aims
We want all children to be happy, safe and achieve their aspirations. We work with the Every Child Matters agenda to meet the needs of all the children at Thomas Barnes.
